There is now only one branch of the US government: the Executive branch. The US of A has been the victim of a quiet coup d’état, and you are completely ignorant of it.

Now, don’t start giving me a line of bullshit. I am no conspiracy theorist. I don’t even write in this godawful rag for you. I write for me. So that I can go to my eventual grave knowing that I’d spoken the truth, even if no one listened. Quit writing to me and calling me a liberal. I am not a goddamned liberal. It just so happens that more of the facts these days are found on the left-leaning sites. The righties are still marching and goose-stepping to the neocon drums. So that’s why I link to more lefty sites.
Anyway, it’s all true. Daniel Ellsberg just gave a speech in Berkeley, which I flew out to attend (in secret), and laid it out on the table. Dan is exactly right. Dick Cheney is the undisputed dictator of America. What he says goes. Not subject to a vote. Not subject to second-guessing. Congress cannot object, and they’d better not try, if they know what’s good for them. They’re better off pretending to play along, like they’re more than puppets.
I knew Dicky back in the ’70s. He was a psycho back then, only he was more quiet about it. Give the man a beer and he’d rant like a lunatic. On several occasions, at our legendary five-beer lunches, Dicky would start rapping the table while he shouted about how the ’60s proved that the US couldn’t handle democracy anymore, and how we had to put the Constitution on hiatus. Donny was there, and even though he was anti-war at the time, he seemed to agree with Dicky on this one.
Dicky never stopped. He’s been slowly pushing the country to the far right for 35 years, and all the while, he got away with it because he could count on the fact that no one would ever believe the US would really become a dictatorship. Now it’s too late. We’re one “terrorist attack” away from a full suspension of the Constitution, the imposition of martial law, and the full opening of concentration camps for anyone left who might protest, or make the mistake of not watching what they say, very very carefully. “Disagreement” is just another pretty word for treason.
One attack away from totalitarian government. When the news reports start coming in, you’re going to think of me. Don’t worry about me. I’ll be in a self-contained underground survival unit somewhere in Wyoming, in the presence of some fetching young women.

I feel this goes back further than Cheney…to the beginning of the end of Democracy in the Nixon Administration…each subsequent Republican Administration has done more to erode the Constitution as our Supreme Law Of The Land. The current one, even more so. The Vice-President, not part of the executive Branch? Only in Cheney’s world…
